That was followed by an appearance on Newsnight last night where he showed himself to be a pundit of considerable weight if not depth. During his appearance, he received exactly the right amount of credit he deserves for bringing Peter Hain down. That is, none whatsoever.
And this morning it was revealed that all this time, it looks as if he's been part of a secret alliance. An elite, if you like. Is Guido Fawkes a Conservative Party puppet?

The good folks at the Telegraph have answered my question in response to an email I sent them. The header shows the email coming from an address that Guido has used as a 'contact me' address on his website, but the label on this address is 'On Behalf Of Guy Fawkes'. OK, that's their side of the story filled out to sensible requirements...
Update 8PM: Oh ho! An 'hilarious' 'wheeze' after all. Doesn't stop him being a fat tit and a deeply unpleasant human being, mind.

OK - but if this sticks I want it clearly understood that this is my scoop, and mine alone. I once wrote something about Guido on my blog which no-one read or believed, and which doesn't have any real relevance to the current story. So I'm just going to go ahead and claim all the glory on this for myself. (If it turns out to be true, that is.)
In the light of the fact that this story seems not to be true, I'd like to make clear that I have never sought to suggest... etc. etc.

I have a feeling that Guido's amazing exclusive about Andrew Marr etc was even less than it seemed at first. The latest Private Eye covers Richard Kay's leading diary entry in the Mail last Friday that whispered about a "leading media personality" who fathered a child during an affair five years ago. Guido's piece was also posted on Friday. All he did was name names while the Mail went for coyness, probably after finding out for himself just who the Mail was on about.
Having seen that photo, I would like to add that while I'm thinner, younger and (I like to think) a tad more handsome than Guido, I'm still in awe of his astoundingly enormous blog traffic.

Speaking as a man of scale, I sympathise with Guido. We all knows that the camera adds 10lb, and I imagine there are quite a few trained on the Newsnight sofa at any given time. That's why I don't do TV. One of the reasons, anyhow.

Don't apologise, E, you're damn right. That's why I've been doing something about it ever since, including turning down invitations to appear on the telly. (As with yourself, just one of the reasons - there were other things I learned about myself by going on 18DS.) I think it demonstrates a self-awareness lacking in others.
Oh, and I didn't go on 18DS looking like I'd slept in my clothes.
